who's behind CatsConnected?
CatsConnected is a service designed and implemented by horus web engineering ltd.
We
love cats (we have quite
a few :), and we write web sites for a living, so it seemed
a good idea to combine the two. We've spoken to a lot of cat
breeders, and many of them say that they don't have time to
learn how to write a web site, or they don't know how to update
the one they have.
We've written quite a few Content Management Systems now (that's the fancy name for what we're offering!), and you can see a portfolio of our clients here. So .. we know what we're doing with web sites, and we are enslaved by cats - it seems a marriage made in heaven!
what will the CatsConnected system do?
CatsConnected will be a simple, quick and easy system that anyone can use, as long as they have a web browser and an internet connection. We'll be posting some screenshots soon, so keep an eye on the site.
To put it simply:
- we will give you a set of web forms to fill in, which will allow you to upload your text directly, using a simple editor with a familiar Word-type interface*
- we'll give you a simple "browse" button for you to upload your photographs directly from your PC to your cat site - and no, you won't have to mess about resizing them first if you don't want to ... we will do that for you automatically
- you'll be able to choose your own site colours and menu items, just by filling in and ticking boxes - or we would be delighted to quote you for a customised design, if that's your preference
- all of these will be protected by a username and password
- and as soon as you upload your words and pictures, there they are, on your site. No messing about, no learning of complex new programs and procedures. What could be simpler?!
what if I already have a web site of my own?
It's still simple. CatsConnected has to run from our servers, because of the way it works. But we will give you a tiny piece of code to upload to your current server, which will automatically redirect visitors from your old site to your nice new one.
If you have your own domain (i.e. www.yourprefixname.co.uk), we can arrange for that to "point" to our server. If you don't have your own domain, and don't want the bother of sorting one out, we can offer you www.yourprefix.catsconnected.co.uk. And we can forward any e-mail to that address to your normal e-mail address.
